My CreativeLive Experience

Julie Perez Photography

Checking off my Lifetime Bucket List.  Three days at the CreativeLive studios studying fine art photography with Brooke Shaden.  To say this was a life changing experience would be minimizing my feelings.  I struggled so much with finding inspiration.  I felt like maybe I just wasn’t creative enough to translate the visions in my head to a piece of art.  I was sitting here with my eyes wide shut, waiting for inspiration to smack me across the face, but it wasn’t.  Brooke taught us that inspiration is inside of us…  and then she showed us how to tap into it.  The process is so simple, and now the ideas are flowing!!

CreativeLive brings us Brooke Shaden

Flipping through facebook this morning on my way into work I noticed that CreativeLive made an announcement that Brooke Shaden was coming to teach next month.  I immediately burst into excitement, which btw the lady next to me reading her book could care less.  She CLEARLY is not a photographer.  Brooke’s work is truly inspiring.  Her concepts are mind blowing, and I can sit and stare at her images for hours, each one telling a different story.  I am not the eloquent with words, you just have to check her out… www.brookeshaden.com

So here I go… getting in front of the camera (bleeehhhh) to submit my video in hopes that I get selected to attend the workshop in person.  The mere thought of having the opportunity to take part of this workshop brings tears to my eyes.  I need this.. in my life.. and now is the time.

Feel free to comment on my blog post below =)  And thank you in advance for your support!

Getting Crafty – Cheap Upholstered Headboard

So this post has nothing to do with photography, but I just had to share my recent Pinterest Inspired project I did with my stepmom this weekend. I just moved to my new tiny studio apartment at Bradley Beach, and really have been racking my brain to make this small space fun, colorful, and me!

Milltown Road

Milltown Road

After work today the sun was nearly set, so I needed to hurry if I was going to capture any shoots.  I drove off my street made a left and right, not really sure of where I was off too, and almost drove past this dead end road.  I pulled over grabbed my camera.. and this is what I saw.  I was only there for 20 minutes before the light was gone.  My little frog friend LOVED getting his picture taken.. I shall call him Oscar!

Watchung New Jersey

Today was gloomy, rainy and cold, and so was my mood.  I wanted to be alone with my thoughts and my Dave Matthew’s, so I got in the car and cranked up the stereo and head out on Rt 22 to look for someplace to relax.  I didn’t go to far until I saw a sign for the Watchung Stables.  I used to ride there when I was a little girl, and I haven’t been by there in years so I figured it was the perfect place to grab a few shots.

As I road up the mountain, Grey Street blasting, I instantly felt a smile on my face.  It started to rain, but the bright colors of the trees all around me still made everything look so bright.  I had to wait a while for the perfect time to run out to the middle of the road to grab this shot, but I LOVE empty roads… and I loved today.
